Embed Your AI Agent in Joomla

Adding your Answerly AI agent to your Joomla website takes less than two minutes.

Because Answerly works seamlessly out of the box with any template system, you don't need to manually edit raw PHP system files, you can easily inject your script using Joomla's built-in module system or template manager.

Here is the step-by-step guide to embedding your AI agent on Joomla.

1. Copy Your Embed Snippet

Before heading to Joomla, you need to grab your unique widget code from the Answerly dashboard.

Go to the Instant Embed page, and click on Connect a Website:

When you click connect a website you get a modal where you're asked to connect your website:

Insert your website below without https and any other special characters.

www.example.com ℹ️ If your website works with www then make sure you include it here too.

Once you click continue an embed code will be generated for you. Copy this script snippet to your clipboard.

2. Add Code to Joomla Using a Custom Module

The cleanest way to add your script to your global theme layout without touching template files is by using a native Custom HTML module.

1. Log into your Joomla Administrator Dashboard.
2. Navigate to Content → Site Modules (or Extensions → Modules depending on your Joomla version).
3. Click the New button in the top toolbar and select Custom (Custom HTML).
4. Give your module a clear title (e.g., "Answerly Widget").
5. Turn off your visual text editor by clicking the Toggle Editor or Code button at the bottom of the content text area workspace box to switch to raw HTML input mode.
6. Paste your copied Answerly script snippet code directly into the text field.
7. Set the Position to a site-wide global block layer placement like footer or debug inside your active template options list.
8. Set Module Assignment to On all pages under the Menu Assignment tab to display the agent globally.
9. Click Save & Close in the upper-right corner toolbar.

3. Verify the Connection

Once the code is added to Joomla, we need to establish the connection between your site and Answerly.

1. Open your live Joomla production website link in a new browser tab.
2. Refresh the page a few times—this triggers the script and alerts our system parameters.
3. Head back to the Answerly website dashboard.

Your dashboard status will update to show that your website is successfully Verified.

4. Set Your Display Conditions

Now that the handshake is complete, you can control exactly where your AI agent appears. In your Answerly dashboard settings, choose whether you want to show your agent across all pages, or set specific path conditions to match your preference.
